# Eligibility Requirements

> Who is allowed to compete in C3 Esports collegiate Rocket League.

C3 Esports is a collegiate league. Only currently enrolled college and university students are eligible to compete. These rules apply to all players in all divisions.

<Warning>
  Competing while ineligible — or knowingly fielding an ineligible player — may result in match forfeits, team disqualification, and account suspension. When in doubt, ask staff before the match, not after.
</Warning>

## Core eligibility requirements

Every player must meet **all** of the following requirements:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Currently enrolled" icon="graduation-cap">
    You must be actively enrolled at an accredited college or university at the time of competition. Full-time, part-time, and graduate students all qualify.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Verified .edu email" icon="envelope-circle-check">
    You must add and verify a .edu email address on your C3 Esports profile. This is the primary verification mechanism for enrollment.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Linked Discord account" icon="discord">
    Your Discord account must be connected to your C3 Esports profile. This is used for identity verification and communication.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Single team only" icon="ban">
    You may only be on one registered team roster at a time. Being on multiple rosters is prohibited regardless of division.
  </Card>

## What counts as an accredited institution

Any college or university that:

* Is regionally or nationally accredited in the United States (or the applicable country)
* Issues .edu email addresses to enrolled students
* Offers associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral programs

Community colleges, trade schools with .edu domains, and online-only accredited universities all qualify. Non-accredited institutions do not.

<Tip>
  If you are unsure whether your institution qualifies, contact staff before registering. Providing your school's name and .edu domain is enough for staff to verify.

## GPA and credit hour requirements

There are **no GPA or credit hour minimums** to participate in C3 Esports. Eligibility is based solely on enrollment status, not academic performance. This is an honor system — players are expected to self-report honestly.

## Proof of enrollment

Staff may request proof of enrollment at any time, particularly when:

* A dispute alleges an ineligible player competed
* A player's eligibility is questioned by the opposing team
* Staff are reviewing an unusual .edu domain

**Acceptable proof includes:**

* A current semester class schedule (screenshot from your school's student portal)
* A current tuition payment receipt
* An official enrollment verification letter from your registrar
* A screenshot of your school-issued email inbox (to confirm the address is active)

<Note>
  Players who cannot provide requested proof within **48 hours** may be ruled ineligible for that match week. If you are asked for proof, respond promptly — staff work on a timeline.

## Specific eligibility scenarios

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="I just graduated — am I still eligible?">
    No. Once you have completed your program and are no longer enrolled, you are not eligible. If you graduate mid-season, contact your manager and staff immediately so your roster can be adjusted.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I am on a leave of absence">
    Students on approved leave of absence from their institution are **not** eligible during the leave period. Contact staff if you have a special circumstance.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I am dual-enrolled (high school and community college)">
    If you are enrolled at and receiving a .edu email from an accredited college, you are eligible — even if you are also in high school.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I transferred schools mid-season">
    You remain eligible if you are enrolled at your new school. Update your .edu email on your profile to reflect your new institution. If your old .edu email remains active during the transition, it continues to satisfy verification until you update it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I am an international student">
    International students enrolled at a qualifying U.S. institution (or an institution in a country C3 Esports supports) are eligible. Contact staff to confirm if your institution qualifies.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My school uses a non-.edu domain (e.g., .ca, .ac.uk)">
    Non-.edu domains are evaluated case-by-case. Contact staff with your institution name and email domain. Staff will verify accreditation and update your account eligibility manually if your institution qualifies.
  </Accordion>

## Enforcement

Staff verify eligibility through:

1. The `.edu` email verification system (automatic)
2. Replay file parsing — Epic usernames in replays are compared against registered roster players
3. Manual proof requests following a dispute

Eligibility violations are taken seriously. See [Code of Conduct](/rules/code-of-conduct) for the full penalty framework.
