Quick reference for terms used throughout the C3 Esports platform and these docs.

A–C

Auto-confirmation The automatic confirmation of a match result that occurs 24 hours after a result is submitted, if the opposing team has neither confirmed nor disputed it. Ballchasing A third-party Rocket League replay analysis service (ballchasing.com) used by C3 Esports to parse uploaded .replay files and extract scores and player statistics. BO3 (Best-of-3) A series format where the first team to win 2 games wins the series. The maximum number of games is 3. Used during the regular season. BO5 (Best-of-5) A series format where the first team to win 3 games wins the series. The maximum number of games is 5. Typically used during playoffs. Bracket A tournament structure showing the playoff matchups. Teams are seeded based on regular season standings and advance through the bracket by winning their matches. Check-in The action of confirming your team is ready to play. The check-in window opens 30 minutes before match time and closes at match time. At least one roster member must check in or the team forfeits. Check-in window The 30-minute period before a scheduled match during which both teams must check in. Contenders The entry-level division in C3 Esports, designed for teams new to organized Rocket League competition.

D–F

Demo (Demolition) In Rocket League, demolishing an opponent’s car by hitting it at boost speed. Counted as a stat in parsed replays. Discord The primary communication platform for C3 Esports. All players must link their Discord account to compete. Dispute A formal request for staff to review a match result or rule violation. Must be filed within 24 hours of result submission. Only team managers can file disputes. Division One of the three competitive tiers in C3 Esports: Premier, Challengers, or Contenders. Each division has its own standings. .edu email An email address issued by an accredited educational institution. Required to verify enrollment eligibility. Must be added and verified on your C3 Esports profile. Epic Games username Your display name in the Epic Games launcher and in Rocket League. Used to match your platform identity to replay files. Forfeit A match loss declared without playing, typically because a team did not check in by match time. A forfeit is recorded as a 3-0 loss in standings terms.

G–L

GD (Goal Difference) Goals For minus Goals Against. Used as a tiebreaker when teams have equal points in standings. Head-to-head The record between two specific teams when they played each other directly. Used as the first tiebreaker when teams are level on points. Invite code A unique code generated for each team that allows players to join the roster. Managers share this with players they want to add. Lobby The private Rocket League game room created by the home team before a match. All 6 players join the lobby before the series begins.

M–P

Manager The team member who created the team and holds administrative control over it. Also called the team captain. Responsible for registrations, result submissions, and dispute filings. Match A scheduled series between two teams, consisting of multiple games (BO3 or BO5). Match week A defined period (typically one calendar week) during which a set of regular season matches are scheduled to be played. MVP Most Valuable Player — an in-game award given at the end of each Rocket League game to the top-performing player on the winning team. Tracked in replay stats. No-show When a team fails to appear in the lobby within 10 minutes of match time after the check-in window. Results in a forfeit ruling. Pending A match result that has been submitted but not yet confirmed or disputed by the opposing team. Results in pending status do not yet affect standings. Playoffs The elimination tournament at the end of the regular season, where the top teams from each division compete for the season championship. Points League points earned from match results: Win = 3 points, Draw = 1 point, Loss = 0 points. Premier The top-tier division in C3 Esports, for the most competitive teams.

R–S

Registration window The defined period during which teams can register for the upcoming season. Opens and closes on announced dates. Late registrations are not accepted. Replay (.replay file) A binary file automatically saved by Rocket League at the end of every game. Contains full data about the match: score, players, stats, and game settings. Required for every game in a C3 Esports series. Reparse Triggering a second parse of an already-uploaded replay file through ballchasing.com, used when the original parse failed or returned incorrect data. Roster The list of players on a team. Minimum 3, maximum 6 players. Roster lock The date after which roster changes are restricted. After the lock, additions and removals require staff approval. Seed A team’s ranking position entering the playoff bracket, determined by regular season standings. The top seed is ranked #1 in their division. Series The collection of games played between two teams in a single match. See BO3 and BO5. Smurfing Playing under a false identity, sharing your account, or creating a second account to circumvent bans or misrepresent your skill level.

T–Z

Tag A 2–5 character team abbreviation displayed next to the team name in standings and match pages. Tiebreaker A method used to determine ranking when two or more teams have equal standings points. Applied in this order: head-to-head record, head-to-head goal difference, overall goal difference, coin flip. Transfer window A defined period during the season when roster changes (adding/removing players) are permitted outside of the normal pre-season window. Verified .edu email An .edu email address that has been confirmed by clicking a verification link sent to that address. Required to compete in C3 Esports.
