C3 Esports uses a simple 3-point system for standing points, similar to association football (soccer) leagues worldwide. Points are awarded per series result — the number of individual games won within the series does not directly affect your points total.
Points per result
| Series result | Points awarded |
|---|
| Win | 3 points |
| Draw | 1 point |
| Loss | 0 points |
| Forfeit win | 3 points |
| Forfeit loss | 0 points |
A draw can only occur if the rules allow it — in C3 Esports, all series have a decisive format (BO3 or BO5) that must produce a winner. Draws in standings are therefore extremely rare and would only appear in exceptional administrative circumstances.
Series wins vs. game wins
Points are based on whether you won the series — not on how many individual games you won within it.
Example — BO3:
- You win 2-0: you earn 3 points
- You win 2-1: you earn 3 points (same as 2-0)
- You lose 0-2: you earn 0 points
- You lose 1-2: you earn 0 points (same as 0-2)
However, individual game scores do affect your goal difference (GD), which is used as a tiebreaker. Winning 5-0 and 4-0 is better than winning 1-0 and 2-1 for your GD, even though both produce the same 3 points.
Even when a series win is secured (e.g., you are up 2-0 in a BO3 and technically do not need to play Game 3), playing each game as competitively as possible builds a better goal difference and may matter for your playoff seeding.
When points are awarded
Points are added to standings only after a match result is confirmed — either by the opposing manager clicking Confirm, or via auto-confirmation after 24 hours. A submitted but unconfirmed result has no effect on the standings table until it is confirmed.
How standings are sorted
Teams in the same division are ranked by:
- Total points (descending)
- If tied: tiebreaker procedure — see Tiebreakers
Forfeit points
A forfeit win counts as 3 points — exactly the same as a played win. A forfeit loss counts as 0 points. The goal difference from a forfeit is recorded as 0-3 (forfeit loss) or 3-0 (forfeit win) for GD purposes.
Do not let a series feel “unimportant” because you already clinched a playoff spot. Forfeiting a match — even with playoffs secured — is a Code of Conduct violation (intentional forfeit) and harms the opposing team’s standings. Play all your scheduled matches.
